Bio

Manuel brings 20 years of experience in the maritime industry, beginning his career in the Spanish Navy and as a deck officer on Oil Tankers and LNG Carriers. After five years at sea, he transitioned to shore-based roles in operations, projects, and chartering, working as a tanker broker and with various dry and wet shipowners in Spain, UK, and the US, before joining Stena Bulk in 2014. Having gained a well-rounded perspective of the industry over the years, early in his career, Manuel recognized inefficiencies in the shipping industry, which sparked his interest in change management, digitalization, and innovation. As Chartering Manager for the Products and Chemicals group at Stena Bulk US, Manuel has overseen day-to-day freight trading in the Americas for the past eight years. Currently, he is focused on how new technologies and AI can enhance efficiency and drive meaningful transformation within the maritime sector.
