Self-Paced Online Programs
We offer several asynchronous programs that allow you to learn at your own pace over the course of six to eight weeks. The general recommended weekly time commitment for core content is 4-5 hours, taking into account the busy lifestyles of working professionals, with an additional 2-3 hours recommended for non-compulsory weekly extension activities, should you have the time. Each module is released weekly, allowing a flexible but structured approach to learning. You’ll be supported as you engage in individual activities and group discussions, ensuring you feel confident to submit your best work at each weekly deadline.
These programs integrate rich interactive media—such as videos, infographics, and e-learning activities—as well as traditional didactic components such as written study guides (course notes). There are opportunities for collaborative learning through discussion forums.
We also offer live online (real-time/synchronous) courses that will count as the in-person program requirement for Executive Certificates, enabling you to complete your certificate entirely online during these unprecendented times. Learn more.

“I'm so glad to have found MIT Sloan. It was a very special experience to learn from industry pioneers among so many existing people from different countries and backgrounds. My online experience with MIT was a lot of work and a lot of time, but very rewarding. It was a true commitment over the six to eight weeks. Being on campus for two-day courses was a very different experience that enabled so many outstanding connections—you really have the opportunity to meet people, network, and get to know the professors. There are great things about both online and in-person offerings, and I'll continue doing both.”—Andreas Mathismoen, a Norway-based professional who recently completed a mix of in-person and online programs to complete his MIT Sloan Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership.
Pursuing an Executive Certificate allows you to further your business knowledge and skills on a convenient, flexible schedule of your own design. To qualify for an Executive Certificate, participants must complete four programs—with at least three of the four coming from their chosen certificate track—within a four-year period. Three courses may be completed online (self-paced or live online) while the fourth may be an in-person or live online course.
