Nancy Wine is Director of Marketing at O’Connor & Drew, P.C., a regional accounting, tax, and business consulting firm. As such, she is responsible for overall development and execution of the firm’s strategic marketing plan, which includes implementing integrated marketing campaigns in support of business development initiatives through the use of marketing tactics such as relationship marketing, brand management, website and social media, thought leadership, public relations, and direct marketing.
Prior to O’Connor & Drew, P.C., Nancy was the Director of Membership for the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), where she was responsible for membership development and marketing; Director of Communications, Research and Government Affairs at the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association (ECOA), where her responsibilities included the oversight of all internal and external communications; and National Director of Industry Marketing at accounting, tax and business consulting firm, Grant Thornton LLP, where she managed the development and execution of a national and global marketing strategy for several industry practices within the firm. Nancy’s professional experience also includes working with a variety of not-for-profit organizations in various leadership roles, as well as marketing roles in publishing, professional services, and conference and event management for large technology corporations and associations.
The benefits Nancy acquired while enrolled in the MIT Sloan Executive Certificate program include an affirmation that she is on the right leadership track. “While enrolled in the courses at MIT Sloan, I realized the importance of paying close attention to the insights and differences in perspectives of those around me. In addition, my time on campus helped me to recognize how important it is to create an environment for innovation in the workplace.”
While at MIT, Nancy also appreciated/enjoyed the opportunity to learn about faculty research, as well as the chance to interact with global executives and discover their decision-making strategies for problem solving. “Over the years, I’ve had many opportunities to observe how corporations across various industries lead and manage, as well as how they become successful or fail. I’ve always had a strong interest in leadership and organizational behavior and have wanted to study the differences between management and leadership. Through my own research, I’ve discovered that MIT is the only institution to have such a program for executives. Although many colleges and universities have similar courses or programs, there is no program quite like the MIT program. Academically, it’s always been ahead of its time, and still is. And I’m proud to have been able to experience it.”
Nancy received her BS degree in business management from Bentley University in 1986, as well as an MS in marketing communications from Boston University in 1992. Nancy received an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from MIT Sloan in 2011.
Nancy is a member of the Association of Accounting Marketing (AAM) and Chairperson of its Membership Satisfaction Committee. She is also a member of the Marketing Committee of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA). On a personal note, Nancy is the Chief Organizer for Small Doggy PlayDates, a group of 400+ members that meet monthly to encourage small breed dog socialization. Nancy resides in Waltham, MA with her two Maltese puppies, Amy and Bella.
