Mitra M. Best is the U.S. Innovation Leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers, leading a disciplined approach to inspire, evaluate and implement innovative ideas across the organization, with the critical mission to support the development of new services and market opportunities across industries. Mitra influences and advises PwC senior leaders on the development of new ideas and approaches to organizational strategy, works with clients and third parties to foster open innovation, and promotes the PwC brand as an innovative leader in the marketplace.
Most recently Mitra's work was featured in an article entitled: "American Idol: Accounting Edition" in Fortune Magazine, October 17, 2011 issue. She was also quoted on the same day in the Wall Street Journal in an article entitled "For Bright Ideas, Ask your Staff."
An avid believer in life-long learning, Mitra is a loyal student at MIT Sloan School of Management. "Every year I look at executive education courses being offered by the top business schools around the world, and find those that will inspire and force me to think differently. My job is to re-frame problems, ask the difficult questions, and help create new ways of delivering value to our clients. The insights, methods, and techniques that I have gained by attending MIT Sloan programs represent valuable tools for success in these turbulent market conditions. The experiences have also given me valuable opportunities to collaborate with forward-thinking executives from outside my industry."
Mitra joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in April 1999 in the Office of Global CIO, as marketer, technologist and strategist. Before being appointed as PwC U.S. Innovation Leader, Mitra served as technology leader and founding member of the PwC Knowledge Services Organization and business strategy leader for the PwC Center for Advanced Research.
Mitra has a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and linguistics from UCLA and several graduate executive management certificates including one in innovation and strategy from MIT Sloan.
