Why Smart Certifcates

We are pleased to offer our participants an easy way to share the certificates they have earned with recruiters, future employers, or professional and personal networks. We have joined with CVTrust to grant secure certified digital copies of MIT Sloan Executive Certificates—Smart Certificates™. Participants will be able to access their individual course completion certificates and Executive Certificates from their profile in the Community anytime from anywhere.* Smart Certificates may be sent as a secure PDF document or with a personal hyperlink via any electronic means. Smart Certificates will enable participants to:

  • Receive instant access to verified digital credentials
  • Store credentials in a secure web based platform accessible anytime from anywhere
  • Share credentials easily across social networks or via e-mail
  • Post course completion and Executive Certificate Smart Certificates to their LinkedIn profile
  • Prevent fraud and reduce counterfeiting

  • Eliminate the need to call the school asking for copies for lost certificates

* Please note that CVTrust certificates are not issued for courses delivered in collaboration with GetSmarter, Emeritus and Esme Learning. Each of these online program managers issue their own verified digital certificates.

Born from Our Entrepreneurship Development Program

At MIT, we teach that entrepreneurship can be taught. It’s not something you are born with, but a craft that can be learned and honed. That being said, there are some people who almost can’t help but be entrepreneurs. People who can’t get a problem out of their head until they’ve solved it. David Goldenberg is one of those people.

David enrolled in our Entrepreneurship Development Program because he wanted to look at the problem from the other side. Was there a way for institutions, like MIT, to protect their brand and verify certificates and degrees? He thought there had to be a way to create this, but how?
