  • Mark L: Excellent presentation of topics. Good discussion of issues especially on technology scouting. My major take away was that only those technologies that change the business model are truly disruptive.

  • Sreekanth I: The framework and content was good, but the pace was a little slower and less dense in content than I'd hoped for. Both instructors were engaging and interesting, but the amount of time spent on discussing examples and anecdotes was a little more than needed, leaving less time for solid, deep exercises and perhaps more course content that might have been more valuable. Overall, a good course, but it could have been delivered with a little more intensity/pace and with more practical group exercises (like other Executive Education courses).

  • Randy C: As co-founder of a leading edge integrated circuit design company that innovates on a daily basis, I was expecting more to reinforce what I already knew, as opposed to learning a lot of new concepts. I seriously underestimated this course! Dr. Katz and Dr. Paap have both led amazing careers and have personally worked with many of the biggest names in industry. I felt as if I was watching professional storytellers, with each tale leading to a key take-away or lesson learned. It was simultaneously entertaining and informative. I'm not much of a note taker, usually just highlighting a few key points. I walked out of this class with 30+ pages of ideas which I felt I could directly apply in my work as a leader of an innovative organization. Before taking this class I recommend to spend some time on Wikipedia learning the history of some of the more prominent case studies: -Amazon -3M -Kodak -GM -Alibaba -Apple/Nokia (iPhone history) Such studying ahead is not necessary - everything is explained with all the relevant details, but it may help to internalize the core concepts being taught. The work of Clay Christensen was referred to multiple times during the course, so it would be useful to be familiar with this ahead of time as well. I highly recommend this course to anyone in a position to influence their company culture and/or product roadmap (and if you're not in such a position, you may take this class and find yourself there soon). The material is relevant both to internal processes/operations in the company, as well as to innovation in product development and roadmap. I will be sending other senior members of my company to take this class the next time it's offered.

  • Ramón Marcel A: My Testimonial is that It was an Amazing classes. It has directly helped me build an innovation ecosystem in my company. It taught me Highly useful tools and clear ideas on how to use this right away to increase value in my company.” Also all the course in innovation was enlightening, and entertaining. The visiting speakers were equally as engaging, with practical knowledge and ideas on how to build for innovation.

  • Xavier De A: Dr. Katz was engaging, energetic, great story teller. The content was interesting although not as practical as I would have hoped. He may benefit from having a better organized deck (less jumping around) and allowing participants to speak, especially when he poses a question. Dr. Paap was the best of the instructors, knowledgeable, well paced, clear, engaging. I would have liked the opportunity to take on exercises to apply the concepts being taught to my own workplace, or at least those of other people in my table. Dr. Von Hippel was a disaster... the topic one many of us cannot relate to and the example he used in self-care (diabetes) is one proposing dangerous and irresponsible consumer behavior. The video of kids making up their own game much too long, boring, not illustrative of anything useful. WIth respect for Dr. Von Hippel's many accomplishments, I would suggest replacing this portion of the program entirely with something more powerful and worthy of MIT tuition.
