MIT Sloan Executive Education

Corner Office

Welcome to MIT Sloan Executive Education! With new executive programs, a new type of Executive Certificate, a new building, and a newly redesigned website, we have much to be excited about this year. Join us, as we explore the most immediate challenges facing many businesses today.

All of our programs bring together business leaders from around the world to learn from MIT's top faculty, and also from each other, in a highly interactive, collaborative environment. Our most frequent participants can now earn a new type of Executive Certificate — The Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management, Innovation, and Technology (ACE). This new certificate is awarded to participants who attend 25 program days and complete at least two programs from each Executive Certificate track within a four-year period. It is designed for executives from any industry or level of responsibility who see the value of staying current with the latest thought leadership and business expertise provided by the MIT Sloan School of Management. It is possible to earn the ACE in just one visit to MIT.

A new pairing of programs in our Strategy and Innovation track — Dynamics of Globalization and Understanding Global Markets: Macroeconomics for Executives — is designed to help participants recognize and appreciate the tremendous impact that international economics and emerging markets, especially India and China, have on today's business environment. Our newest program, Intelligent Organizations: Collaboration and the Future of Work, aims to help managers understand how to create competitive advantage by harnessing new organizational approaches made possible by rapidly changing communications technologies. Executives in energy-related organizations can learn to develop progressive management methods that are not only environmentally sound, but also commercially successful, with the help of our Clean Energy Ventures: Creating Innovative New Businesses Through Entrepreneurial Management program. These programs can be taken as part of our three Executive Certificate tracks and are eligible toward an ACE.

And, soon many of our programs will be held in the new MIT Sloan building, rising on the Cambridge side of the Charles River. The new building, which opened in 2010 on Memorial Drive, will house MIT Sloan faculty and graduate students, as well as dedicated executive education classrooms. The high-performance building features sustainable elements such as intelligent handling of daylight, photovoltaic panels, and "green" roofs designed to reduce peak rainwater runoff to the storm drain system. The interior space is based on research by MIT Sloan Professor Thomas Allen, who also teaches in some of our executive programs.

With the launch of our new website, our program participants will have a new venue where they can continue discussions started in the classrooms, with each other or with faculty. The site aims to build a vibrant virtual community of current and past program participants, and to serve as a comprehensive information resource for prospective participants and the general public.

We invite you to explore the site, learn about our programs, and choose one or several that fit your schedule this year. We hope to welcome you to MIT Sloan soon!

Best regards,
