All cancellations must be made in writing. Send a note to the Registrar indicating that you wish to cancel your enrollment. Cancellations made more than 42 days prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund, less a $250 administrative fee. Cancellations made between 22 and 42 days prior to the start of the program will be subject to a 50 percent cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 21 days prior to the start of the program will not receive any refund.
All enrollment deferrals must be requested in writing. Send a note to the Registrar indicating that you wish to have your enrollment deferred to another session within one year.
Deferrals requested more than 42 days prior to the start of the program will not incur any fee. If you have paid in full, your payment will be applied to the tuition in the new session, and you will not be charged any increase in tuition related to the new session. If you have not paid in full, you will be billed the tuition for the new session. Please note that there may be an increase in tuition for the new session.
Deferrals requested between 22 and 42 days prior to the start of the program will incur a 25 percent fee; deferrals requested between 21 days and 1 day prior to the start of the program will incur a 50 percent fee. Any balance remaining after the fee will be applied toward your tuition in the new session. You will be responsible for the remaining tuition balance for the new session. Please note that there may be an increase in tuition for the new session. Deferrals requested on the day or after the start of the program will incur a 100 percent fee. Your enrollment acceptance will be transferred to the new session, but you will be responsible for the full tuition of the new session.
If you choose to defer your admission to a future program session (within one year only), you must attend that session or you will forfeit your remaining balance. Only one deferral per registration is allowed and must occur within one year of the original session date. There is no cancellation allowed on deferred admissions.
Please note that you may take advantage of only one discount or special offer per program (e.g., group pricing, MIT alumni discount, etc.). Discounts cannot be combined. Visit the FAQ to see a list of available discounts.

If your schedule changes and you can no longer attend the program, you may be able to send a qualified colleague in your place. Only one substitution is allowed per program registration. All substitutes require prior approval from the program faculty. Therefore, any requests for substitutes must be submitted in writing to the Registrar at least 10 days prior to the start of the program. The new participant will also need to fill out an application form.
Visa Letter Policy
MIT will issue a visa invitation letter only after program acceptance and upon receipt of payment in full. $1,000 of your program payment will be considered a non-refundable deposit. Should you be unable to attend the program, the $1,000 deposit is not eligible for refund, regardless of cancellation/deferral date or reason. If you cancel or defer your program enrollment more than 42 days before the program start date, you may apply the $1,000 deposit toward another program enrollment within one year of the original program start date. Within 42 days of the program start date, the standard cancellation and deferral fees also apply.
