  • Bertrand L: The course was entirely taught by John Akula, a former practicing attorney with experience in a variety of different areas of law. Course readings were provided, which were of excellent quality, including those items written and edited by Mr. Akula himself. These were important teaching tools, creating a framework for analysis and discussion. There was a significant time dedicated to these cases initially (first day), and at times, an excess of discussion; indeed, we did not get to all of the cases assigned. This was a shame since they had been edited specifically for use by non-legal personnel teaching purposes. It might be suggested that better time management could be used to cover all of the material which had been carefully prepared for pedagogic sessions. Nonetheless, there was significant engagement amongst the students and Mr. Akula, and it was clear his passion for teaching and the law.

  • Rahul P: Not having any formal training in law, I found this program highly useful in its holistic approach, practical discussions and use cases and Prof Akula's ability to synthesize complex situations into key takeaways.

  • Hadi Saleh, D: The session was very rich in terms of experience and content. However, since EXECED participants are predominantly not only American professionals, it will make more sense if the content is globalized instead of narrowing it to only American scenarios.

  • Maria S: Who would think that Law was a subject of interest to those of us in technology and management careers? I came out with a whole new perspective as to what to do, not to do, negotiations, behaviors, and as to how to make the right management decisions to ensure that my actions and those of the people I am responsible for, those I report to, do not hurt the public, the company, my coworkers and specially me and my family. John Akula is an excellent teacher. He makes you think really well as to how you would have acted if you were involved in any of the cases studied in the course. Before you know it, your mind is transported to situations in the real world and the right course of action during those situations.
