Description: This group is dedicated to one of the world's greatest challenges: how can we reach a seamless execution and valorization of technology/knowledge transfer especially from academia to industry?
In this context, by "technology transfer" we mean: licensing and sale of patented and non-patented technologies from research institutions to companies.
By "knowledge transfer" we mean: all the "activities which aim to capture and transmit knowledge (either explicit, such as in patents, or tacit such as know-how), skills and competence from those who generate them to those who will transform them into economic outcomes. It includes both commercial and non-commercial activities" (definition provided by the EU Commission).

Hasshi S.: The theme of this group - how to optimize the transfer of IP from academia to private industry - is something I have been very interested in for some time. The best way is to draw the two together as much as possible by having the technical and business staff dedicating part of their time in academic environments like MIT where new ideas can be developed in collaboration with academic institutions. The IP is shared and matured as a hybrid brain-child of academic and private industry.
