His most recent book , Playing Our Game: Why China’s Rise Doesn’t Threaten the West (Oxford, 2010), examines the political and economic ramifications of China’s integration into global industrial production. The book argues that China’s participation in globalized production has induced political change within China at the same time it has accelerated industrial innovation within the United States.
Steinfeld’s current research focuses on the development of the Chinese energy sector, as well as global efforts to develop new energy-related technologies.
