Carola Frydman is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at Boston University. From 2006 to 2011, she was a faculty member at the MIT Sloan finance group, where she taught the MBA Corporate Finance course. Professor Frydman is an expert on the long-run trends in executive compensation and corporate governance. Her research has studied the determinants of executive pay, the effect of tax policy on CEO compensation, and the impact of managerial characteristics on firm outcomes. Her current work is focused on the role of financial intermediaries for corporate policies and economic growth.
Frydman’s research has been published at the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Public Economics, the Annual Review of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Economic History. Her work has been featured, among others, in Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Financial Times, and The Economist.
She holds a PhD in economics from Harvard University, and a BA summa cum laude and an MA in economics from Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina. While a student, Frydman received several prestigious scholarships, including the Graduate Society Dissertation Completion Honorary Fellowship at Harvard University, and the Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the National Science Foundation. She is a member of the American Finance Association and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
