Steven Winig is a Senior IT Manager in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s central IT organization (IS&T) where he developed and implemented the Relationship Management Program and Project Services Office. The Relationship Management program helped establish strategic partnerships across the Institute by having staff dedicated to working directly with MIT’s departments, labs, and centers to leverage technology to meet their business needs. The Project Services Office strives to achieve a culture of Project Management across the organization in part by promoting a practical project management framework and a corresponding, easy-to-use toolkit. Both the framework and components of the toolkit have been adopted by numerous industry and academic institutions. Recently, Steve was tasked with managing a new group entitled the Application User Experience. This group improves the quality of products and services by integrating with the relevant teams to: perform accessibility and usability consultations and develop and implement educational materials (e.g., training classes and documentation). In addition to his managerial responsibilities, Steve is a member of the leadership team and numerous institute advisory groups.
Prior to joining MIT, Steve was a Principal at American Management Systems, Inc.(AMS), a billion dollar international management and systems consulting firm. In this role, he was a recognized expert in credit and collections with demonstrated success in developing and implementing technology-driven business solutions to shape and achieve client’s long-term business goals. Focusing mainly on the financial services, communications, media, and entertainment sectors, managed large, multi-state teams in the re-engineering of clients’ credit and collections strategies.
Prior to working at AMS, he was the Director of the ACA Accredited Computer-Ed High Tech Camps, a subsidiary of Computer-Ed Inc. Computer-Ed High Tech Camps, now Emagination Computer Camps, provided a unique balance between cutting-edge technology and the traditional summer camp experience. In addition to overseeing a tenfold increase in camper enrollment at the flagship Boston location, Steve pioneered a start-up methodology that was utilized to expand to two satellite sites. Emagination now runs summer camps in four cities across the United States.
Steve holds a BS in computer science from The Johns Hopkins University, where he also earned minors in psychology and mathematical sciences.
