Executive Certificate(s):
In 2007, Federico Cappa got together with a former CEO of Barilla and a former Lehman Brothers analyst and primary accountant, to form Synergy Business Management S.r.l. The business model of Synergy is to become an interactive partner for companies and entrepreneurs in the planning and development of new projects, expansion into new markets, turnarounds, etc. The services offered by Synergy include and are not limited to business strategy, corporate finance, marketing, fiscal engineering, external growth through M&A, and R&D financing.
In 2002, Federico started an independent consulting company that provided financial solutions to medium-sized enterprises. He managed projects concerning finance, accounting, control, value creation, corporate governance, international development, corporate strategy, and joint-ventures agreement. In some cases, the relationship with clients changed from one of consulting to a continuative collaboration where he became a “contract manager”. Two such instances led him to become the CFO of GF S.p.A. (a medium-sized company in the machinery industry) and the financial manager of Parma Tecninnova (a company owned by the University of Parma and aimed at technology transfer). Federico’s clients have included some of the top Italian companies in industries ranging from food to mechanical, to automobiles and pharmaceuticals.
Federico attended the University of Parma, Italy where he received a BA in economics and finance. After school, he specialised in investments and corporate finance through a four-year experience working for financial institutions. He started as an analyst of structured bonds and asset-backed securities for Intesa Asset Management (the larger Italian asset management company). Step-by-step he became asset manager of a few investment funds focused on corporate bonds, with an overall invested capital of roughly 8 billion Euros. In particular, Federico was responsible for the investments in bonds issued by international financial institutions and in asset-backed securities.
"I decided to attend MIT Sloan Executive Education programs in order to broaden my managerial skills with new practices and tools. The programs I selected in the Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation track were: Building, Leading, and Sustaining the Innovative Organization, Reinventing Your Business Strategy, Developing and Managing a Successful Technology and Product Strategy, and Understanding and Solving Complex Business Problems. These programs gave me a new, wider perspective and provided me with valuable new tools that I can apply daily when interacting with clients and making decisions."
