As vice president and head of Technical Operations, Dr. Gustavo Mahler oversees the manufacturing of Bayer's leading recombinant hemophilia A therapy, Kogenate, at the Bayer biomanufacturing facility in Berkeley, California. Gustavo has more than twelve years of experience in biological manufacturing processes involving mammalian, bacterial, and viral systems. He began his career with Bayer in 1994 as a manufacturing manager for the Animal Health Division in Buenos Aires, Argentina and then as a regional production manager for the Animal Health Division in Leverkusen, Germany. Following that, Gustavo became the director of media and fermentation for Bayer HealthCare in Berkeley where he implemented key performance indicators, lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement programs. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.
